NOD KRAI • New Character and things you (maybe) don't know about them ⋆౨ৎ˚⟡˖ ࣪ Genshin Impact
Yesterday was just another normal Tuesday, until Genshin dropped the video featuring all the new characters we're about to meet!
How excited are you, from 1 to Varka?
In this post I will include all the characters that have been shown with their respective visions and some information/lore/curiosities about them.
☽ Nicole Reeyn ☽
Vision: Unknown
Lore: Nicole Reeyn, also known by her codename "N," is a member of the Hexenzirkel, A woman with extraordinary abilities and knowledge, she is called by members of the Hexenzirkel, "a guide who will never get lost." for her willingness to offer guidance to people who feel lost.
Based on some information gathered in the game, it is assumed that she may be mute or speak very little; she describes herself as "suffocated by her inability to speak," and it is well known in the world of Teyvat that her method of communication is to speak into people's minds.
We can find more information about her in Skirk's lines.
☽ Aino ☽
Vision: Unknown
Lore: According to the information shown during the Genshin Impact 5.8 special program, we can say that Aino is Ineffa's designer, so she likely has extensive knowledge in mechanics and technology, and in the creation of automatons, this correlation can also be confirmed by some details in her outfit.
Unofficial curiosities: The name Aino originates from Finland, and has strong symbolism linked to the Finland's Kalevala epic.
The story is about a woman who gives up her life rather than marry a man she doesn't love (she was forced to do it), emphasizing the willpower to protect one's ideals and freedom even at the cost of one's own life.
Personal reflections: I'm curious to find out if the strong and determined character of the woman in the story will be reflected in little Aino, another thing I wonder is whether she will interface with Sandrone, given the latter's morbid interest in automatons and everything related to them.
☽ Varka ☽
Vision: Anemo
Lore: Varka is the current Grand Master and Knight of Boreas of the Knights of Favonius.
He is described as a very strong warrior, so strong that he can fight with a claymore in one hand and a sword in the other hand, infact also Tartaglia himself recognizes his abilities and hopes to challenge him one day.
When it comes to fighting he never backs down, but also when it comes to being a guide or a point of reference for the people of Mondstadt (and not) In fact, he was a huge support for some characters, such as Mika, Jean, Rosaria and Razor.
Especially for Razor, Varka is the closest thing to a father for him, who was found and raised by Varka when he was very young. Varka also taught him the art of fighting, in fact Raizor said that their way of fighting is very similar to him.
He is therefore a very strong man, endowed with extraordinary fighting skills, who behind his somewhat rough attitude also hides a big heart.
- There are also correlations with the lupus Boreas which you can find in the description of the claymore Wolf's Gravestone.
- The name Varka in Old Persian means Wolf.
☽ Jahoda ☽
Vision: Unknown
Lore: Unknown
Unofficial curiosities:The name "Jahoda" primarily means "strawberry" in Czech and Slovak languages. It can also refer to a nickname for someone resembling a strawberry or an occupational name for someone who gathered or sold strawberries. The name is of Slavic origin, commonly found in Czech and Slovak regions.
Unfortunately there is no official information about her.
☽ Durin ☽
Vision: Pyro
Lore:
⚠️Warning: Contains spoilers for the quest - Paralogisms.⚠️
Mini-Durin was a small dragon created by the witches of Hexenzirkel in Simulanka, who was inspired by Durin.
Durin, was a dragon created by Rhinedottir in Khaenri'ah,
During the Cataclysm, Durin began to explore the world of Teyvat and headed to Mondstadt, but what for him was just a game and a discovery of a world seen as if through the eyes of a child, for the people there was terror and destruction, so Barbatos (Venti) and his faithful dragon Dvalin decided to stop him before it was too late.
Durin was defeated, but his heart continued to beat under the cold snow of Dragonspine.
Mini-Durin also did not have a simple life, but one shrouded in sadness, until the traveler and some of his friends freed him from this life full of loneliness, turning him into a small, harmless dragon.
Since the Simulanka and mini-durin were based on the real Durin and Teyvat, this change that had been made to mini-durin would inevitably bring about a change in the real world as well.
Indeed, not long afterward, Durin began to show signs of an imminent awakening; the threat of catastrophe loomed.
Albedo decided to take matters into her own hands and, using an ancient ritual, extinguished Durin's heart, causing him to be reborn as Mini-Durin and transformed into a human (which was Mini-Durin's greatest wish).
Albedo argued that the evil, corroded side of Durin's Deep, combined with Mini-Durin's goodness, would find a balance without completely distorting the little dragon.
To this day, we know the experiment was successful, but we don't know what changes this transformation brought about in Mini-Durin's personality.
☽ Sandrone ☽
Vision: Unknown
Lore: Sandrone, known by the code name "Marionette" is the eleventh messenger of the Fatui.
According to what some characters say about her, Sandrone appears to be a capricious girl with a terrible temper.
A girl who cares about nothing except her passion for robots and machines, and who never misses an opportunity to say unkind things about others. Tartaglia himself says that she always looks at him as if she wants to kill him. Eleven Fatui Harbingers.
Sandrone is a very mysterious character, rarely seen in public or by other Fatui, and spends his time researching.
I wonder if she hides a different personality and if what she shows is merely a mask.
Unofficial curiosities: In the commedia dell'arte, Sandrone is portrayed as a popular character, often exploited and eager for social redemption, but also astute and capable of facing life's difficulties with irony.
☽ Lauma ☽
Vision: Dendro
Lore: Unknown
Unofficial curiosities: In Latvian or Lithuanian mythology, the name Lauma is often associated with a spirit or fairy, a beautiful, ethereal creature associated with nature, forests, and lakes.
Although they appear beautiful and sweet, some stories say they can also have a dark side, making them mischievous or even evil.
In some Lithuanian myths, Lauma, a mythological figure, is presented as the wife of the thunder god Perkūnas. However, in some versions, their marriage does not materialize because Lauma falls in love with the Moon, considered a male deity in Lithuania.
Personal reflections:
Lauma seems like an interesting character, her horns resemble Anemo's symbol, and she herself mentions being a loyal emissary and scion of Hyperborea, so I wonder if she has some connection to Venti, the wolf of Boreas and Varka.
☽ Nefer ☽
Vision: Dendro
Lore: Unknown
Unofficial curiosities: The name Nefer in ancient Egyptian means beautiful or pleasant, In fact, this name is often associated with things of value, importance or simply beautiful.
☽ Flins ☽
Vision: Electro
Lore: Unknown
Unofficial curiosities: Flins is the name of a supposed Slavic deity. A god of death, was called Flins because he was believed to reside on a rocky outcrop and appear as a deceased figure wearing a long cloak, holding a staff with a lit torch, and with a lion perched on his left shoulder. The lion was believed to resurrect the faithful when they died.
☽ Columbina ☽
Vision: Unknown
Lore: Columbina, also known as the "Moon Maiden" and by her codename "Damselette," is the Third of the Eleven Fatui Harbingers.
Colombina is also a character shrouded in mystery, despite her sweet and beautiful appearance. She is described as a dangerous person and one to be avoided.
Due to her position within the Fatui, we can assume she possesses very strong powers, but at the same time, little is known about her.
Unofficial curiosities: Due to some details reminiscent of angels (seraphim) and some theories about her hypothetical connection to the Seelie, Columbina seems to be a really interesting character for the Genshin lore, I'm curious to know more about her story.
☽ Alice ☽
Vision: Pyro
Lore: Alice is Klee's mother, the founder of Hexenzirkel, codenamed "A."
She is a woman with extensive and profound knowledge in many fields, yet she too is shrouded in mystery. She seems to have connections to various issues and people, as if she knew everything about everyone and does nothing to hide it.
But beyond her extensive knowledge, Alice is also known in the lands of Teyvat for being eccentric and sometimes a little... crazy.
In the book, "Teyvat Travel Guide," Alice wrote a collection of diary entries about her adventures and explorations in Liyue, Inazuma, and Mondstatd. In this diary, we can read about the various "troubles" the witch got into while traveling around Teyvat, such as the time she tried to shoot some Hilichurl with a cannon to see if they could reach Celestia, causing them to land in a nearby camp, causing quite a stir.
Mythology or the meaning of names often reflects heavily on the characters' personalities, and I'm curious to find out if that will be the case this time too.
Which of these characters fascinates you the most and are you most excited to meet?
Let me know in the comments.
