Your spike is the moment you finish your Mythic or later on when you get your 3 item spike. Play for those moments.
Always look to roam around the map with your W, Akshan excels at finding picks or cleaning up around the map.
Your job is to dominate the early game as much as possible, don't be afraid to fight and make sure to get the lead snowballing.

Anivia: Anivia's high burst damage and crowd control with her Q and R can punish Akshan if he gets caught by her skill shots.
Cassiopeia: Cassiopeia's sustained damage and ability to kite with her Twin Fang can make it difficult for Akshan to trade effectively.
