While one of the least flashy new ex's in Celestial Guardians, Passimian should be a welcome addition to Garchomp decks. With the addition of Rare Candy, Garchomp can now exploit going first by evolving immediately into its final stage and attacking the backline directly. However, she's very vulnerable going second, as it forces attacking with its basic form while the opponent is free to evolve and most likely knock out the small 60 HP Gible.
This is where Passimian comes in, filling the role of lead for Gible when going second. His 60 damage Seismic Toss may not be the hardest hit out there, but it packs a meaningful punch considering Garchomp can come in afterwards and immediately dish out another 100 with Dragon Claw. Throw in a single activation of both Rocky Helmets on each of them, and you're looking at a total of 200 damage already, thanks to the preserving of momentum Passimian's team play allows.
Sabrina and Cyrus can assist in juggling the opponent's around to better suit our damage output, whether they are damaged or not. One-ofs Iono and PokeComm are standard in Stage 2 decks. I was hoping to squeeze in a copy of Poke Flute to capitalize on Linear Attack vs Fossils, Magikarp, Zubat, Bounsweet, and the like, but I think at least a single X Speed needs to be included to correct Gible leads going second.
I'm still waiting for even a single copy of Passimian to come home, but I'm so excited to play two of my favorite Pokemon together in the same deck. Even if it doesn't prove to be at the level Ranked needs, I know it will at least be tons of fun for Random.
