From the very moment Rare Candy was announced, I wanted to build a Breedill deck. Being a Youtuber, covering the new cards was expected of me, but now that we’re a week in we can begin revisiting some of the OGs. Rare Candy is what both Beedrills were ultimately designed for. Beedrill is an aggro card. Regular Beedrill is so for simple reasons, thanks to rare candy you can fire off 70 damage on your earliest attack going first. Beedrill EX’s Crushing Spear attack is the ultimate reasoning behind our deck’s structure. Discarding an energy from a pokemon locks it out from being able to develop further. Beedrill has the rare ability to prevent your opponent’s key offense from happening. Yet you can only really accomplish this if you’re able to send Beedrill in early. Because of this…

Beedrill prefers working alone.

By only running 2 Weedles, you increase your chances of curving onto a Crushing Spear significantly. With Rare Candy we immediately threaten our opponents with 2 different kinds of early game threats. A fast attacker who can snipe non-EX basics, and a bulky sweeper who will slow down our opponent’s pacing. Beedrill is finally complete.

This is the ultimate Beedrill deck. A fast offense paired with disruption, running a combination of trainer cards to enhance our consistency, bulk and range. Leaf Cape is a must here, bringing Beedrill’s HP all the way up to 200. While Lillie is a strong option, I chose Erika to ensure I can heal Weedle and Kakuna. Lillie's extra 10 HP gain can definitely win some games, but Erika can ensure we get to actually see an end game. In response to Beedrill, players can opt to build up their attacker in the bench, fucking assholes, playing a full set of Sabrina helps us make it so that no pokemon is safe. In my opinion a full set of Sabrina is essential for Beedrill, as our deck relies on the results from our early offense. Being able to snipe down the right target in the back can allow us to shut down their build up right then and there.

There’s no doubt about it, Beedrill’s weakness is but a recent memory. Drop that Weedle, give it a Candy, and take their energy.
