The Battleground continues to evolve with the Open Beta 9 update for SMITE 2, bringing a powerful new god, stylish cosmetics, and strategic changes to Conquest gameplay.

The Saint of War, Guan Yu, charges into SMITE 2 with a hybrid-scaling kit that blends healing, mobility, and sustained damage. His new Aspect of the General, releasing May 9, shifts his playstyle by converting attack speed into intelligence and enhancing his team utility.

A wave of new skins and cosmetics joins the battle, including Miss Senshi Bellona + Prisms, Hive Mother Yemoja, and the adorable Bumble Bee Jing Wei. With additional options like a new ward skin, jump stamp, and the introduction of Classic Announcer Packs, players can fully personalize their divine presence.

Conquest mode pacing is also getting a small tune-up. Leveling will take a bit longer, but players will earn gold faster, allowing for quicker full builds without speeding up power spikes. These changes aim to keep matches balanced while rewarding smart farming and rotations.

There’s a ton of balance and other changes below, so get ready to show off your favorite gods in style, and conquer the Battleground once again.

Damages 🔟 times in 3s

Every 25% 🌀 Attack Speed causes it to damage 1 additional time

🐎 Ultimate Ability: Cavalry Charge

Mount a warhorse gaining 🛑 crowd control immunity

Strike enemies while riding, dealing 💥 Physical Damage

Dismount with a final swing that also 🌀 Stuns all enemies hit

Enemies hit by previous strikes take increased damage from the strike. This 🔁 stacks

Swing faster as you gain 🌀 Attack Speed

✨ Aspect releasing May 9: Aspect of the General

🌀 Battle Fervor now provides 🧠 Intelligence instead of 🌀 Attack Speed

🩹 Conviction now applies an additional ❤️ Heal over Time and will share 🛡️ Protections from Taolu Assault

❌ However, Guan Yu loses all 💪 Strength scaling

✨ NEW FEATURE - Announcer Packs

  • Announcer Packs are now in SMITE 2 with a variety of packs from SMITE 1 available in the Classic Announcer Pack Chest. Open Beta 9 features the first wave of Packs being introduced with more coming in future Updates, so be on the lookout!
  • Announcer Packs can be equipped on the Account Profile Loadout Screen.

✨ Ping System

  • Players using Mouse and Keyboard can now press the middle mouse button to fire a general ping on the map wherever their targeter is placed

✨ God Builder

  • Search functionality has been added to the God Builder page to allow for easier discoverability for community builds
  • Pinned builds are now integrated into the Auto-Buy and Auto-Build systems

✨ God Mastery

  • A new icon has been added to God Cards/Portraits on the God Page and God Select screens that shows your current Mastery progress

✨ Chat

  • The chat window will now show notifications whenever you or an allied player purchases or picks up a team based item or consumable (Ex: Wards, The Executioner, Talisman of Purification, the Runic Bomb, etc.)
  • Chat messages will now display longer in the chat window before fading away.

✨ God Pages

  • The team has started rolling out new Pantheon specific backgrounds on the God Page starting with the Egyptian Pantheon. Keep an eye out for new backgrounds for other Pantheons in future Updates!

🔄 Soft Reset

There will be a Soft Reset of player Skill Rating in OB9

This soft reset will be as follows:

🟤 4,000 SR (Obsidian 2) → Reset to 4,000 SR (Obsidian 2)

💎 3,400 SR to 4,000 SR → Reset to 3,400 SR (Diamond 2)

🟦 2,800 SR to 3,400 SR → Reset to 2,800 SR (Platinum 2)

⚪ < 2,800 SR → No Reset

📌 This reset is intended to shake up the top end of the leaderboard, and allow player Skill Rating to more accurately reflect recent matchmaking changes

📊 Skill Rating Update

In OB9, there have been changes to how SR is calculated:

➖ Less aggressive adjustments at the start of a player’s Ranked career

📉 Adjustments to limit SR inflation

🔁 More consistent adjustments match-to-match (less variability in +/- SR)

⏳ In an upcoming update, there will be further changes to the SR algorithm, mainly to more accurately take into account a player’s current SR vs. average SR of the Lobby when making adjustments

🏆 Rewards Due to development limitations, Season 0 Winter Split rewards will be granted in the next patch (OB10) There will be two main rewards handed out:

🎖️ Ranked Border Based on a player's maximum recorded SR during the Winter Split

All players who achieved at least Silver Rank will receive this reward in OB10

🏅 Ranked Titles 🧱 “Deity” Title → Top 100 players when servers go down (morning of May 5th, pre-OB9 maintenance)

🔥 “Demigod” Title → All players who reached 5,000 SR at any point during the Winter Split

⚡ “Speedrunner” Title → The 10 fastest players to reach Demigod during the Winter Split

Conquest

The goal of the upcoming XP and Gold changes is to try to realign the pacing of the two systems together while also addressing some of the feedback we received from the community. In summary, players will level slightly slower but gain gold slightly faster. That means reaching level 20 takes a few more minutes, but the time it takes to reach full build has been reduced.

⚡ Gold Changes

  • Jungle gold scaling increased from 0.5 to 1
  • Lane gold scaling increased from 0.25 to 0.375
  • Side elder harpy base gold increased from 10 to 15
  • Side small harpy base gold increased from 2 to 5

⚡ XP Changes

  • Jungle XP scaling decreased from 9 to 6.5
  • Lane XP scaling decreased from 5 to 3
  • Melee minion base XP decreased from 50 to 45
  • Ranged minion base XP decreased from 30 to 25
  • Big harpy base XP increased from 72 to 80
  • Small harpy base XP increased from 12 to 20
  • Scorpion base XP increased from 219 to 240

  • Fixed an issue where Persistent Gust (A01) AoE did not show for local-players

Yemoja

  • Fixed an issue where the Bouncing Bubble (A01) Projectile did not use the correct Skin color scheme FX on Low settings

Hun Batz

  • Fixed an issue with his Sacred Monkey (A03) FX material

Items

  • Fixed an issue where several items were benefiting from lifesteal
  • Fencer’s Buckler removed as it no longer built into any current T3 items
