How to Play Sentinel — TFT Set 10 Revival: Remix Rumble

Welcome to our trait guide, where we’ll be covering the Sentinel trait in TFT Set 10 Revival: Remix Rumble. In this guide, we’ll explain how Sentinel works, cover the different champions, and give a quick rundown of the other potential traits you could branch into.

If you haven’t checked out all of the Set 10 information yet, check out out TFT Set 10 Revival: Remix Rumble.

How TFT Sentinel Works

☑️ Sentinel Trait Bonus

Your team gains Armor and Magic Resist. Sentinels gain double.

✔️ (2) +16 Armor, +16 Magic Resist

✔️ (4) +35 Armor, +35 Magic Resist

✔️ (6) +55 Armor, +55 Magic Resist

✔️ (8) +100 Armor, +100 Magic Resist

Sentinel is a simple but effective defensive trait, especially powerful at higher tiers. At (2) and (4), it provides a moderate amount of Armor and Magic Resist to the whole team, increasing survivability during the mid game. At (6) and especially (8), the bonus stats scale significantly, making the entire team extremely tanky and turning Sentinel units into near "tanks." However, reaching the higher tiers requires a specialized team composition and can be countered by armor/magic resist penetration or true damage.

☑️ Sentinel Synergy

Here’s a list of all the traits you can branch to with the Sentinel units.

✔️ 8-bit

✔️ Disco

✔️ Heartsteel

✔️ K/DA

✔️ Pentakill

✔️ Spellweaver

✔️ Superfan

✔️ True Damage

The Sentinel origin in TFT Set 10 Revival: Remix Rumble combines flexibly with 8 different traits, notably including three diamond-tier traits: K/DA, Pentakill, and True Damage. Meanwhile, two other traits that offer bonus rewards are Heartsteel and 8-bit.

Sentinel Champions

Let’s briefly go over each Champion in the Sentinel trait and what you can do with them.

☑️ K'Sante - Heartsteel

K'Sante is primarily used in the early game to play a loss streak strategy for the Heartsteel trait. His strong frontline durability helps stall fights just long enough to maximize Heartsteel's loot potential without accidentally winning rounds.

K'Sante's skill, Block the Haters, provides a mix of defense and offense. He enters a defensive stance, gaining 2.5 Durability for a few seconds, making him much harder to take down. After this duration, he deals physical damage to his current target, allowing him to contribute to both tanking and dealing damage. This makes K'Sante a strong frontliner who can absorb pressure and still impact fights.

☑️ Lillia - K/DA + Superfan

Lillia is commonly used in Superfan comps supporting a main carry, or in K/DA comps where she plays a key role alongside the two main carries, Ahri and Akali. Her utility and frontline presence help buy time for the carries to scale and deal damage effectively.

Lillia's skill, Confetti Bloom, offers both offense and support. She deals magic damage to nearby enemies, making her effective against clumped targets, and then heals herself and her nearest ally, providing sustain for the frontline. This makes her a valuable utility unit in both Superfan and K/DA comps, helping to keep key units alive longer.

☑️ Garen - 8-bit

Garen is commonly used in 8-bit comps with Riven as the main carry. He can also be a strong carry himself if he has the Shield Bash Augment. Additionally, Garen fits well in a Heartsteel + 8-bit hybrid comp when using the Retro Gamers Augment.

*Retro Gamers (Gold): Heartsteel Champions gain Attack Damage for each 8-bit champion fielded. *

Whenever you beat a high score, gain Bonus Hearts multiplied by the number of times it's been beaten. Gain an Aphelios and a Garen.

Shield Bash (Gold): Sentinels gain bonus Armor and Magic Resist. Every 4 seconds, their next attack deals 75% of their total resistance as magic damage. Gain a Garen.

Garen's skill, Power-Up!, provides both survivability and damage. He gains maximum Health, making him tankier, and his next attack deals bonus physical damage, allowing him to contribute offensively. This dual-purpose ability makes Garen a strong frontline bruiser who scales well with durability and attack-related augments.

☑️ Ekko - True Damage + Spellweaver

Ekko is the main tank in both True Damage and Spellweaver comps. Additionally, he also synergizes very well with Superfan.

Ekko's skill, Record Scratch, offers strong crowd control and survivability. He deals magic damage to nearby enemies and stuns them for 1 second, disrupting the enemy frontline. He also gains a shield for 4 seconds, and with his Bling Bonus, he heals 100 Health per second while the shield is active. This makes Ekko an excellent frontline unit who can both control fights and sustain himself.

☑️ Mordekaiser - Pentakill

Mordekaiser is used as the main tank in Pentakill comps or in Riven carry comps.

Mordekaiser's skill, Face-Melter, combines damage, defense, and scaling. He gains a shield and deals magic damage over 3 seconds to adjacent enemies, then follows up with a burst of magic damage. If he kills an enemy, he permanently gains Ability Power, Attack Damage, Armor, and Magic Resist, allowing him to scale into a powerful bruiser over time. This makes him a strong frontline unit with self-scaling potential in extended fights.

☑️ Blitzcrank - Disco

Blitzcrank is the main tank in Disco comps. Additionally, he is used as a Sentinel Headliner in 6 Sentinel comps featuring Akali and Ahri.

Blitzcrank's skill, Boogie Barrier, provides both consistent damage and strong durability. His passive deals magic damage every 2 seconds, but when activated, he gains a shield and his passive triggers every second for 5 seconds, also dealing bonus magic damage based on the target's max Health. This makes Blitzcrank a durable tank who can wear down even high-health enemies over time.

Sentinel Augment

Shield Bash (Gold): Sentinels gain bonus Armor and Magic Resist. Every 4 seconds, their next attack deals 75% of their total resistance as magic damage. Gain a Garen.

Augment: Shield Bash enhances Sentinels by providing bonus Armor and Magic Resist. Every 4 seconds, their next attack deals 75% of their total resistance as magic damage, making them both tanky and capable of dealing significant damage. Additionally, you gain a Garen, further boosting your frontline strength. This augment is especially effective for increasing the survivability and offensive power of Sentinel units.

Sentinel Team Comps

Team comps are not very diverse, but we’ll try to keep this section updated with the best team comps you can play around.

☑️ Sentinel Garen Team Comp

The Garen carry comp pairs excellently with either the Shield Bash or Worth the Wait II (Garen) Augment. Based on Garen’s skill, the Sentinel trait's durability boost, and the power scaling from the 8-bit trait, Garen becomes nearly unstoppable on the battlefield. His ability to gain extra durability and deal significant damage with his next attack makes him a formidable presence, especially when combined with these synergies.

☑️ Sentinel Ahri, Akali Team Comp

The 6 Sentinel Ahri Akali comp with a Fast 8 playstyle is very easy to play. It's recommended to pick Sentinel Headliner Blitzcrank. Use Akali to counter the enemy's main carry. With 6 Sentinels forming a strong frontline, they buy enough time for Akali and Ahri to cast their abilities and carry the fight.
