League of Legends is set for a major overhaul in 2025 with the introduction of Seasons and an all-new epic monster: Atakhan. Here’s a comprehensive guide to help you prepare for the changes in the upcoming season.
Atakhan, the Bringer of Ruin, Joins Summoner’s Rift
As Riot Games introduces seasonal themes, the first 16 weeks of 2025 will focus on Noxus. During this time, Atakhan will debut as a powerful neutral objective in Summoner’s Rift, offering game-changing rewards to the team that secures him.
Learn about Atakhan's spawn mechanics, potential rewards, and the impact he’ll have on gameplay.
What Does Atakhan Offer?
Atakhan features two distinct forms, each providing unique buffs:
- Ruinous Form
Reward: Bloody Petals
- Enhances all Epic monster rewards for the team that defeats him.
- Summons a grove of Blood Roses, which anyone can collect.
Blood Roses Effect:
- Periodically grows in areas where champions have died.
- Grants XP and permanent stacking Adaptive Force to teams for each rose collected.
- Voracious Form
- Reward: Rebirth Buff: Grants all team members a one-time resurrection effect similar to Guardian Angel.
How Is Atakhan’s Form and Location Determined?
Atakhan’s spawn location and form depend on the early game’s dynamics:
- Spawn Side:
- Determined by the team dealing the most damage to champions and securing the most kills before the 14-minute mark.
- An arena indicator will appear, signaling where Atakhan will spawn.
- Spawn Form:
- Faster-paced games with high kill counts favor the Ruinous form.
- Slower-paced games lean towards the Voracious form.
- Objective damage doesn’t influence this mechanic.
Atakhan’s Spawn Timer
Atakhan spawns at 20 minutes, replacing Baron Nashor as the mid-game objective. To accommodate this:
- Baron Nashor: Spawn time delayed to 25 minutes.
- Rift Herald: Spawn time shifted to 16 minutes.
Unlike the Rift Herald, Atakhan does not despawn, remaining on the map until one team secures the kill.
When Will Atakhan Be Available?
Although Atakhan will not be introduced in Patch 14.24, players can expect to test him on the PBE ahead of the new season. With competitive play resuming in January 2025 and the launch of a new international tournament, these changes promise an exciting year for League of Legends fans.
Prepare to adapt your strategies as Atakhan reshapes the Summoner’s Rift meta!
