- Kayle: Kayle's ranged abilities and scaling damage can make it difficult for Gangplank to trade effectively in the early game.
- Quinn: Quinn's mobility and the ability to quickly engage and disengage can make it challenging for Gangplank, who relies on setting up barrels for effective trades. Her blind from Q can disrupt Gangplank's auto-attacks and Powder Kegs.
- Ornn: Ornn's tankiness and crowd control can negate Gangplank's ability to freely poke and trade in the laning phase. Ornn can set up ganks effectively with his CC, making it risky for Gangplank to overextend.

- Poppy: Gangplank can use his Powder Kegs to control space and poke from a distance, making it difficult for Poppy to engage. Poppy's all-ins are less effective if Gangplank can effectively kite her using his barrels and ranged abilities.
- Yone: Gangplank can harass Yone in the early game with his ranged abilities, making it challenging for Yone to farm or engage effectively. Gangplank can also cleanse Yone's R knock-up with his W.
- Yasuo: Yasuo relies on dashing through minions and engaging at close range, which can make him susceptible to Gangplank's ranged poke and Powder Kegs. Gangplank's W can also remove Yasuo's R crowd control, giving him a degree of control in the matchup.
- Early Game: In the early game, Gangplank should focus on farming safely with his Parrrley (Q) while using barrels to poke enemies and control the wave. Avoid extended trades, prioritize getting your ultimate (Cannon Barrage) at level 6 to assist other lanes, and farm silver serpents to upgrade your ultimate further.
- Mid Game: During the mid game, Gangplank becomes a potent split-pusher and teamfighter. Use barrels to clear waves quickly and create map pressure, while also participating in skirmishes and team fights with your ultimate and Powder Keg (E) combo. Prioritize vision around objectives and be ready to teleport to team fights, as your Cannon Barrage can turn the tide of engagements.
- Late Game: In the late game, Gangplank's damage output is immense. Utilize your barrels and Trial by Fire (Passive) empowered attacks to shred through enemies in team fights. Position yourself carefully, using Powder Kegs to control choke points and zone enemies. Land crucial Cannon Barrages in team fights, and focus on high-priority targets with your Parrrley.
