Tsareena, the Gamba Pokemon.

With 130 HP, Three Kick Combo makes you flip 3 coins. For each heads, Tsareena will deal 50 damage. The results of this attack vary, all the way from 150 damage, to literally nothing. Three Kick Combo is the equivalent of a Celebi attacking with 3 energy attached onto it, except with Tsareena all you need is one. This pokemon is not for the fainthearted. But oh boy is it fun.

Not only is Tsareena potentially an insane one energy attacker, emphasis on potentially, she has one hell of a trainer card to support her. As a card, Mallow is nuts. This supporter will heal your Tsareena all the way back up to full, at the expense of all energy placed onto her. Given how Tsareena only needs one energy to function, this is an easy price to pay.

There are different ways you can approach deckbuilding with Tsareena. As she can certainly function as a splash to support another main attacker. We want to showcase the power of Mallow though, so I decided to build a deck where Tsareena takes the spotlight.

Today’s deck is designed to enable a Tsareena lead quickly, with a supporter lineup that aims to keep her on the front line for as long as possible. Leaf Cape brings Tsareena’s HP stat up to 160, allowing us to survive most high end attacks, once she’s at the verge of fainting, Mallow will undo all that damage, forcing your opponent to start all over again. Tsareena’s attacks are wildly unpredictable, yet the longer she remains on the front, the more Three Kick Combos you’ll be able to unleash, ultimately balancing out the RNG. Theoretically at least.

Sprigatito is our third basic pokemon, who we run alongside one copy of Meowscarada. We do this because we want Tsareena to be our offensive lead, leaving Meowscarada ready in the back as an end game finisher. If we lead off with Sprigatito, we cry for help, find our remaining pieces and pivot it to the back as we send Tsareena to the fray, flip some coins, and pray. Thanks to Sprigatito’s attack, we get to run a mere total of 7 pokemon, maximizing our Pokemon Communication’s accuracy, and our desired early game’s consistency.

This deck is mad fun, while matching up very well onto aggressive decks. Having that said, if you want a deck to climb ranked with consistently, this one can be rough, as you’ll be forced to bow down the coin flip gods.

TSAREENA is kind of attractive.
