1st Place - Kai'sa
Pretty stock standard besides a couple "hedge" slots, in regards to the main deck
- 2x Retreat, for an edge in the Kai'sa mirror
- 1x Poro, for additional edge in the Kai'sa mirror
- 2x Sprite Mother, this card we have been seen cut more and more, but are quite vital for matchups that Kai'sa needs to race such as Aurora matchups
- 1x Mundo, in combination with Zaun Warrens game 1 is a powerful combo that we saw won the game 1 of the finals on it's own. Expect to see this more
2nd Place - Ramp Yi
Ramp Yi is quite an innovative build that proved it's strength this tournament.
T1: 2 drop T2: Find your centre, while your opponent cannot break your over stated 2 drop is extremely powerufl T3: Now we have options of Yi or Faefolk to field and pull back, letting us untap with 8 on the next turn to simply swarm our opponent with MASSIVE bodies that have immediate impact on the board also.
I've been testing this personally and am expecting something similar to this as being the main build of yi moving forward.
3rd Place - Kai'sa
3x Retreat 1x SIngularity 1x Mindwarp
Are the interesting choices to me here, I do suspect Kai'sa players will soon be running more and more Timewarps as the meta progresses, this card is lowkey impossible to play around and Kai'sa ability covers the only weakness of it. (Timewarp being uncast-able at 10 energy)
4th Place - Yi
Standard Yi still performing strong, but CLEARLY loses in the mirror to the Ramp Yi, while the Ramp Yi also GAINS equity in the Kai'sa matchup. Not expecting this build to stick around much longer!
Top 16 - Viktor
Top 16 Viktor is quite impressive, I do think the deck is top 5-6 but his build is quite weird if you want to be able to compete with both Yi and Kai'sa.
Viktor's card pool is full of extremely powerful cards, but finding the perfect 48 is the hard part!
Top 16 - MF
The META BREAKER
We're seeing a lot of MF players coming up as they in theory should have a good matchup into both Kai'sa and Master Yi. The problem arises when you realise that the skilled Kai'sa and Yi players are wary and have built their lists with this matchup in mind.
You can see in both the topping lists they are main boarding cards that help A TONNE in this specific matchup, so we're going to need to see this Aurora deck adapt further to actually compete.
I believe the Treasure Trove, Pack of Wonders is a bait in the deck with how only a 30% chance to see it turn 2, with the impact only sometimes affecting which turn the Aurora resolves.
I do still believe Aurora is ultimately, the most powerful card in the game, so an optimal build will for sure be found!
Top 32 - Sett
SETT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Very interesting build here with 2x each of both Setts, I would suspect that Orange Sett is the champion zone since they are running Wallop in main, which I have been a fan of when I need to speed my deck up, the problem with Wallop is that it was potent into decks that weren't named Kai'sa or Yi.
Leona in the main is something I have tried and didn't hate, I love the idea though since you should be expecting to fight multiple Yi throughout the swiss rounds, so I would do the same.
Only 2 Kinkou Monk and the lack of Daring Poro is very suspect to me, Monk turn 2 is actually quite a potent play going 1st as the threat of res or call to glory will often dissuade opponent's from even trying to fight, something they should be considering heavily because of their choice of Grove in the battlefields. Daring Poro is our best going 2nd two drop and simply above rate mana wise.
Rest of the deck looks pretty stock standard, seems more tech'd for Yi than Kai'sa which I am a fan of, hopefully China realise the strength of Sett soon!
Top 64 - Darius
FINALLY, some Hook Darius is showing up in China
This deck is potentially just the best deck in the game right now, but these regionals are yet to show it. This deck has the best T1-T3 plays in the game if each deck got their best draws. This means on average Darius will have the advantage in early game, forcing the opponent to have to make up the difference with resources first.
This deck also has a strong matchup into both of the top decks in the format right now, Kai'sa and Yi. So it surprises me how under represented it is so far, I highly suspect to see more soon!
