How to Play Monster Trainer — TFT Set 15: K.O. Coliseum

Monster Trainer in TFT Set 15 is a unique trait centered around the summoned Monster that replaces Lulu in combat, featuring a scaling mechanic over time. The chosen Monster gains XP each round and from participating in takedowns, gradually becoming stronger.

A major advantage is its strategic adaptability, as you can choose a Monster that fits your matchup. At level 15 and 30, its ability evolves, unlocking powerful new effects.

However, the trait heavily relies on a single unit, making it risky if the Monster isn’t well protected. It’s a late-scaling trait that fits control-oriented playstyles, where you build your comp around the Monster as your main carry.

TFT Monster Trainer Champions

Kog'Maw (3G) – Monster Trainer

AD

Kog'Maw is a top-tier scaling carry for Monster Trainer comps. He brings solid AoE magic damage, utility through resistance reduction, and terrifying late-game potential with infinite range and high attack speed. Investing in leveling your monster early is key to unlocking his true strength.

Rammus (3G) – Monster Trainer

AD

Rammus is a frontliner that excels in disruption and survivability. He’s not just a meat shield, his shield explosion, stun, and taunt mechanics make him a menace in the middle of enemy teams. Fully leveled, he becomes an unkillable wall that controls fights and punishes anyone trying to break through the frontline. He’s the ideal defensive monster for Monster Trainer comps looking to stall and peel for their carries.

Smolder (3G) – Monster Trainer

AD

Smolder is a high-damage, armor-ignoring Monster with both burst and utility. He excels at quickly removing key units while spreading Burn and Wound effects to cripple healing and tanking. When fully leveled, his double casting, armor penetration, and mixed damage make him a lethal carry that demands attention. He fits perfectly in Monster Trainer comps focused on offense and tempo.
