How to Play Soul Fighter — TFT Set 15: K.O. Coliseum

Soul Fighter gives value, value, and more value. Not from a resources standpoint but from a board stats standpoint. Soulfighter is about playing at a high tempo. Something interesting about Soul Fighter is that it has an objective to get a prismatic cash out. You must deal 99 damage to players in order to cash this out!

For reference, the gold Warpath augment required you to deal 80 player damage, but it also gave you a 2-cost 2 star to start making it easier to win streak and deal damage. However, this 99 damage to players sounds possible especially if the trait itself isn’t weak.

Explore all of the new Set 15 traits here!

How TFT Soul Fighter Works

Soul Fighter Trait Bonus

AD

Soul Fighters gain bonus Health, and gain Attack Damage and Ability Power every second up to 8 stacks. At max stacks deal bonus true damage.

Prismatic: Deal 111 damage to players.

  • (2) 120 Health, 1% AD and AP, +10% damage
  • (4) 240 Health, 2% AD and AP, +16% damage
  • (6) 450 Health, 3% AD and AP, +22% damage
  • (8) 700 Health, 4% AD and AP, +30% damage

Soul Fighter Synergy

Here are the additional traits of the Soul Fighter champions that give the opportunity to create trait webs:

  • Kalista (1G) – Executioner
  • Naafiri (1G) – Juggernaut
  • Lux (2G) – Sorcerer
  • Xin Zhao (2G) – Bastion
  • Viego (3G) – Duelist
  • Samira (4G) – Edgelord
  • Sett (4G) – Juggernaut
  • Gwen (5G) – Sorcerer

The Soul Fighter Trait

The Soul Fighter trait is an 8 piece vertical trait that gives a lot of tie in options for traits. The first thing to note is that there is already some overlap. The first one is that you have two Juggernauts ready to go to help with your mixed damage tank and frontline. There is also Sorcerer’s Lux and Gwen with Gwen being a 5 cost carry option.

This trait on paper as well as tags is very damage heavy where every unit just wants some items and wants to do damage. I am expecting item augments to do well with comp just because Samira, Sett, Gwen, and others will want to be enabled with items.

TFT Soul Fighter Champions

Kalista (1G) – Executioner

AD

Kalista is also an executioner with her ability Spirit Spear where she hurls a spear at the farthest enemy, dealing (AD & AP) physical damage to the first enemy hit. If the enemy dies, the spear continues, dealing overkill damage to the next enemy hit. She will be used in the early game as a carry as in order to hit the prismatic trait you need to deal 99 player damage.

Naafiri (1G) – Juggernaut

AD

Naafiri gains (AP) shield for 2 seconds, then deals (AD) physical damage to the target. The Juggernaut tag pairs nicely with Sett. I don’t know how good of an early game Naafiri will be, but perhaps paired with Mundo Juggernauts could have a strong presence.

Lux (2G) – Sorcerer

AD

Lux is a Sorcerer who fires an energy ball towards the largest group of enemies containing the target. On arrival, 20% shred enemies in a 1-hex radius for 5 seconds and deal (AP) magic damage split between them plus (AP) magic damage to each. In the early game, she will take advantage of boards that have their units grouped together which is pretty common. She will be able to take advantage of this in the late game as well. I would not be surprised to see her as a rerollable Sorcerer in the future although I wouldn’t expect her to be a rerollable Soul Fighter as many of the Soul Fighters are higher cost.

Xin Zhao (2G) – Bastion

AD

Xin Zhao is a 2 cost Bation which will give him great tanky presence in early rounds of the game as well as allow him to tie in with Braum who looks to be a strong 5 cost champion that will offer crowd control as well as the Bastion trait.

His ability Guarding Crescent, heals him for (AP), dealing (AD) physical damage to enemies in a 2-hex radius, and mark the current target. For 3 seconds, take 40% reduced damage from unmarked enemies allowing him to deal damage while being a tank.

Viego (3G) – Duelist

AD

Viego’s Duelist trait and being a 3 cost makes him a bit questionable to be a carry in this Soul Fighter composition. His abilities are more complex as he has a passive where attacks deal (AP & AD) damage. The active makes it so the next three attacks unleash a devastating combo. He has Pommel Bash where he deals (AP) magic damage. Rising Slash where he deals (AP) magic damage and briefly knocks up a target. As well as Falling Slash where he deals even more (AP) magic damage.

Samira (4G) – Edgelord

AD

Samira is an Edgelord with the ability of Soul Shot. This has a passive where after casting, gain 1 style and 5% omnivamp up to 4 stacks. At max stacks, the next cast is Inner Arsenal Unleashed. For Soul Shot she deals physical (AD) damage to the target and dashes to a short distance. Inner Arsenal Unleashed does double the passive bonus and leaps to a nearby group of enemies, dealing (AD & AP) damage to all enemies in a 2-hex radius and rests the style to 0. So essentially Samira’s ultimate ability in League is her ability in this set.

Sett (4G) – Juggernaut

AD

Sett pairs well with Naafiri due to the Juggernaut tag as well as being a high cost unit will make him core of this Soul Fighter comp. His ability Maximum Grift Overdrive allows him within a short duration to heal (AP & Health) and deal (AD) physical damage to the target. Then he deals (Health & AD) physical damage in a cone. Enemies in the center line take additional physical damage, increased based on healing received this combat.

Gwen (5G) – Sorcerer

AD

Gwen has a passive where her attacks deal (AP) magic damage in a cone. Every 3rd cast is Rip the Threads. Her ability Soul Stitch allows her to fire 3 needles through the board, dealing (AP) magic damage to enemies hit and leaving threads behind. Her upgrade Rip The Threads deal (AP) damage split between all enemies and (AP) bonus magic damage to each. Enemies near at least one thread take 10% more damage. This makes her a premiere AP carry in this set as well as in Soul Fighters and Sorcerers. Likely, players will be happy to see Gwen in their shops if they have items for her.
