True Ice Ixtal Tech

This tech currently works with Patch 13.8b, but there is high chance it will be removed in an upcoming patch. You cannot get in trouble for using this, as this was simply an oversight from Riot that can occur with natural gameplay.

Currently there are 6 different Ixtal Elements in the game: Wood, Fire, Ice, Wind, Electric and Stone.

Most of them are fine, players mainly focus on Wood to buff Cho'Gath, but the Element with the highest potential is Ice.

The descriptions reads:

Gain ice hexes that empower allies placed within. The first time each empowered champion is reduced below 30% Health, they are encased in protective ice, becoming Untargetable and healing for 30% of their max Health over 2 seconds.

With 2 Ixtal you receive one Hex, with 3 Ixtal you receive a second Hex.

If you get an Ixtal Emblem or Augment and reach 4 Ixtal, you receive a new bonus effect:

Upon freezing, adjacent enemies take 30% of their max Health as true damage.

Ice Ixtal only becomes truly relevant if you manage to reach 4 Ixtal, because the damage can be much higher than 30% of enemy max Health.

In Patch 13.b this true damage can be amplified from different sources like:

• Spell crit from Infinity Edge, Jeweled Gauntlet or Jeweled Lotus Augment
• Items with damage amplifier like Giant Slayer, Guardbreaker or Night Harvester
• Traits like Slayer or Vanquisher
• Augments like Know Your Enemy or Contagion

Since the damage is based on enemy HP, this means you can put any 1 Star unit alone in your frontline with items that amplify the damage and it is possible to deal over 80% of their max HP as true damage at the start of the fight.

You can also put Rogue units on Ice hexes and they will delay their damage until they arrive, allowing you to snipe the enemy backline as well by utilizing the second hex.

The core concept here is to add Spellcrit with Infinity Edge and get to 100% critical strike chance while amplifying the damage with Night Harvester and Slayer trait. You can include Rogue either with Slayer/Rogue Emblem or cut down to 4 Slayer instead to get access to enemy backline. Can add Mordekaiser/Aatrox and 6 Slayer in late game.

The concept here is to run Vanquisher because they have built in spell crit. This makes finding items much easier if you don't have Pandora's Items, since you can use anything that amplifies damage and still have 100% critical strike chance. Works better if you have a Vanquisher on the Ice hex or find a Vanquisher Emblem

While this comp can be immensely powerful, it also has a lot of hurdles to clear. First you need to make sure you have the Ice Ixtal and then you have to somehow manage to get +1 to Ixtal, otherwise you won't receive the damage part of the trait. This alone can make it quite difficult to find everything you need to get it to work.

One trick you can use is to open up the team planner with an Ixtal unit and check out the trait at the start of the game. If you see that you rolled the Ice Element you can favor voting for Portals like Placidium Library to grant yourself a free Ixtal Emblem.
