Lupa is a 5-star Fusion-element Broadblade resonator in Wuthering Waves, known for her attack-scaling damage mechanics and powerful team buffs. She can serve as a main D.P.S. and support unit in Fusion-based teams. Notably, Lupa’s Outro Skill buffs the next character swapped in with 20% Fusion Damage and 25% Basic Attack Damage, making her an excellent enabler for Fusion D.P.S. allies.

Wildfire Mark is Lupa’s 5-star signature broadblade, her best-in-slot weapon for maximum D.P.S. It provides a high base attack of 588 and a massive critical damage bonus of 48.6%. Its weapon effect greatly boosts Lupa’s damage and even buffs the team: using Lupa’s Intro Skill or Resonance Liberation increases her Resonance Liberation damage by 44% for 6 seconds, and landing a Heavy Attack extends this buff, granting a 24% all-damage bonus to the whole team for 30 seconds at refinement level one. This means Wildfire Mark not only amplifies Lupa’s own damage but also supports allies’ D.P.S.—perfect for an attack-scaling Lupa build. If you lack her signature, other 5-star Broadblades like Verdant Summit, which has a Critical Damage stat and boosts Heavy Attack and resonance damage, or Ages of Harvest Critical Rate stat and boosts Resonance Skill damage, are decent alternatives, but Wildfire Mark offers the highest damage ceiling and team utility for Lupa’s main D.P.S. role. Lustrous Razor is also a great option if you have it. Two four-star broadblades that Lupa can use are Autumntrace and Helios Cleaver.

Best Echo Sets for Lupa:

Lupa benefits most from Echo sets that boost Fusion damage and overall Attack. The recent Flaming Clawprint set introduced in patch 2.4 is the top choice for maximizing her D.P.S. and team buffs. For those without a full set, a hybrid of Fusion damage Echoes is an effective fallback.

Flaming Clawprint: This 5-piece Fusion Echo set is tailor-made for Lupa’s Fusion D.P.S. playstyle. Its 2-piece set effect increases Fusion Damage by 10%. Its 5-piece set effect states that after Lupa uses Resonance Liberation, all team members gain 15% Fusion Damage, and Lupa’s own Resonance Liberation damage is boosted by 20% for 35 seconds. This greatly amplifies both her personal damage and her team’s output during Fusion attacks. In practice, every time Lupa activates her Resonance Liberation, your whole team’s Fusion damage spike, which is ideal in a Fusion-element team. Flaming Clawprint essentially turns Lupa into a damage buffer and carry. Equip Lioness of Glory in the main slot for an active skill that deals heavy Fusion damage and grants Lupa an extra 12% Fusion Damage and 12% Resonance Liberation Damage bonus.

If you haven’t farmed a full Flaming Clawprint set yet, combine two 2-piece sets that boost Fusion damage. Molten Rift, which has a 2-piece set effect of increasing Fusion Damage by 10%, paired with Flaming Clawprint will net a total of 20% Fusion Damage. You won’t get the 5-piece bonus effect, but this combo still significantly boosts Lupa’s elemental damage. Use the same Lioness of Glory main Echo for its Fusion Damage% passive and active skill. This setup is a strong intermediate option while building towards the full Flaming set.

To maximize Lupa’s D.P.S., focus on crit and offensive stats on your Echoes:

Main Stats per Echo Slot:

For the 4-cost echo, use either a critical rate or critical damage main stat. Choose based on your needs to maintain a good crit ratio. If Lupa’s critical rate is below 50%, use the critical rate percent; otherwise critical damage percent for higher damage.

For the 3-cost echo, use a Fusion Damage percent main stat. This provides a substantial boost to all of Lupa’s fusion-element attacks.

For the 1-cost echo, use an attack percent main stat. Lupa’s skills all scale with Attack, so an Attack percent echo here increases her overall damage output.

Substats Priority:

Critical Rate & Critical Damage have the highest priority on substats. Aim to improve Lupa’s critical rate and critical damage to a balanced 1:2 ratio. Every D.P.S. needs solid critical stats; for Lupa, these significantly increase her Fusion Slashes and Wolf Attacks damage.

Attack percent has the second highest priority. Additional attack percent on substats directly boosts her damage. Stack as much Attack% as possible after meeting critical goals.

Resonance Liberation Damage percent has the third highest priority. This stat increases the damage of Lupa’s Resonance Liberation skill, which is one of her key burst damage abilities. It’s moderately valuable, take it if it appears, but don’t prioritize it over core stats.

Energy regeneration has the lowest priority. Lupa doesn’t struggle with energy in her rotation, so you only need a bit of energy regeneration from substats if necessary for comfort. Around 20% to 30% energy regeneration is plenty to ensure her resonance liberation is ready when needed. Focus on damage stats first, and let energy stats come naturally.

For a fully built Lupa at level 90, aim for the following approximate stat thresholds to maximize her D.P.S.:

Critical rate of 50% to 70%. This ensures Lupa’s hits crit reliably. With a critical rate main stat Echo and substats, breaking 60% critical rate is a good endgame goal.

Critical damage of 150% to 200%. Leverage her Critical Damage Echo and substats to raise this. Lupa’s signature weapon already provides 48.6% critical damage, so reaching 180% total is achievable. High Critical Damage greatly amplifies each Critical Wolf-Fusion strike.

Attack percent of 80% to 100% from Echoes, around 45% from the main Attack Echo, plus substats. In practice this often results in 2000 attack total for Lupa with a maxed 5-star weapon. Lupa’s base attack at 90 is 387, and her weapon adds 588; boosting that by 100% from artifacts yields ~1900 attack before buffs. This high attack underpins all her damage.

Fusion Damage Bonus of 46% from a max Fusion-Damage Echo main stat. A huge increase to all of Lupa’s elemental damage. Coupled with Lupa’s own Fusion buffs, it ensures her Fusion-element attacks hit as hard as possible.

Energy recharge of 120% to 130% total. This small boost helps to smooth out her resonance liberation uptime. Since Lupa naturally generates energy well, you don’t need extreme Energy stats, just enough to comfortably use her Forte Circuit when off cooldown.

To maximize Lupa’s D.P.S. output, prioritize levelling her skills in this order:

Resonance Liberation has the highest priority. This is Lupa’s special resonance skill that grants team buffs and deals solid damage. Levelling it boosts both her personal D.P.S. and the team-wide Fusion damage ignore or bonus effects, enhancing overall team performance. It’s as important as her Forte for both damage and support utility.

Forte Circuit is tied for the highest priority. It delivers her strongest burst damage, so max it out alongside her resonance liberation. Each level greatly increases her damage output, which is crucial for a main D.P.S.

Normal Attack has the third-highest priority. Lupa’s normal attack string contributes a good portion of her D.P.S., especially during rotations when her skills are on cooldown. Level this after her core skills to improve her sustained damage.

Resonance Skill has the fourth highest priority. This is another skill that should be levelled. It adds extra damage to her kit but is not as impactful as Forte Circuit or Resonance Liberation.

Intro Skill has the lowest priority. Lupa’s Intro skill has the least impact on her D.P.S., so it’s the last priority. It’s nice to have levelled eventually, but you will get more damage per resource by focusing on the above abilities first.

Best Teams for Lupa:

Lupa shines brightest in a Fusion-element team with supports that amplify her damage. Brant and Changli are two top-tier synergistic supports to pair with Lupa, as they not only share the Fusion element, boosting Lupa’s Glory passive bonus, but also provide significant buffs to bolster Lupa’s D.P.S. Here’s an optimal endgame team setup:

Lupa as the Main D.P.S. Your on-field carry deals heavy Fusion damage with her broadblade. Lupa also provides team buffs: her Pack Hunt passive increases all allies’ damage, up to 18% after Intro skills, and Glory lets the team ignore up to 9% of enemies’ Fusion Resistance when running 3 Fusion characters. This means a Lupa, Brant, and Changli trio inherently hits harder against enemies due to reduced resistance. As the main D.P.S., Lupa stays on the field to unleash combos and her Forte Circuit, empowered by the buffs from Brant and Changli.

Brant as a Sub-D.P.S. and Buffer. A 5-star Fusion sword user who pairs perfectly with Lupa. Brant brings supplemental Fusion damage and utility through healing, but more importantly, he can massively buff Lupa’s attack. Using Brant’s Outro Skill with a Moonlit Clouds 5-piece Echo set turns him into a team buffer: upon Brant’s Outro, the next character entering gains 22.5% Attack for 15 seconds. With the Impermanence Heron main echo, his outro also grants an extra 12% all-damage bonus to that next character. In practice, you’ll have Brant perform his rotation, building energy quickly thanks to high Energy Regen, and then use his Outro right before switching to Lupa. This boosts Lupa’s Attack by roughly 22.5%, dramatically increasing her damage during her D.P.S. window. Brant’s kit even rewards stacking Energy Recharge, he gains flat Attack for Energy Recharge percent beyond 150% up to 280%, so building him with high Energy Recharge not only lets him Ult more often but also buffs himself.

Changli as a Sub-D.P.S. and buffer. A 5-star Fusion sword user who excels as a secondary D.P.S. with team buffs. Changli deals impressive personal damage and has multiple gap closers, but notably her Outro Skill provides a 20% Fusion Damage boost to the next character swapped in plus a 25% Resonance Liberation Damage boost. In a team with Lupa, this means after Changli’s burst, you can swap to Lupa and buff Lupa’s Fusion damage by 20%. The synergy is clear: Changli sets up a stronger Fusion damage window for Lupa, on top of Lupa already buffing herself and allies. The result is Lupa hitting even harder with her Fusion attacks. Unlike Brant, Changli’s buff comes inherently from her kit; no special set is needed, so you can build Changli for damage and still benefit from her Outro buff.

A dedicated healer or support character can replace Changli for survival and additional buffs. The Shorekeeper is a premier choice as she provides strong healing and powerful team-wide buffs; for example, the Shorekeeper can grant 12.5% critical rate, 25% critical damage, 25% attack, and 15% damage amplification to the whole team. This complements Lupa and Brant’s buff suite, essentially overloading Lupa with Attack, Critical, and Damage bonuses. Shorekeeper’s fast rotation and ease of use make her an optimal support if you have her. If you don’t, a solid 4-star like Baizhi or 5-star like Verina can fill the role in free-to-play teams, keeping Lupa healthy. The key is to have some sustain so Lupa can stay on the field dealing damage, and any extra buffs from this slot are gravy. If you do not have Brant, you can replace him with Encore or Chixia.
